It may be beautiful but the story isn't always pretty!
This website is dedicated to all the families who have been bullied by the local land trusts to either donate their land, have it taken from them in court or lose it by forced mortgage foreclosure. Over the years local land trusts have collaborated with local government to continue their quest in acquiring as much open space as possible. For local land trusts this is made possible through the New York State Open Space Conservation Program in partnership with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation and the Land Trust Alliance.

Our community revolves around education, recreation and tourism. The Shawangunk Mountains create a landscape that is described as, "One of the last great places on Earth". Living in the "Gunks" has its rewards and its pitfalls. The modus operandi of local land trusts is to force out in-holders by abusing the court system and draining the pockets of their neighbors. This is well documented locally on this website and nationwide as well.
Below is a collage of documented harassment, costly court actions, deception, and stealing land.
